University of Bangor dissemitated results of STEELPV in the Printed Photovoltaics: from Materials to Manufacture workshop
Dr. Ziquian Ding from the School of Electronics of the University of Bangor has participated, last 21 April, at the work shop 'Printed Photovoltaics: from Materials to Manufacture' organised by Sêr Solar in association with Specific and the University of Swansea. Dr. Ziquian Ding presented the preliminary results of STEELPV project developing an intermediate layer based on an epoxy solution. This layer is able to drastically reduce the roughness of the low cost steel substrates considered in STEELPV and is compatible with the OPV thin film solar cell technology. In that sense, some OPV solar cells were successfully deposited and final efficiencies of 2% were reported.
José María Delgado from Abengoa Solar New Technologies (ASNT) participated in the technical work shop Steel Innovation for the Energy Sector organised by the Spanish Steel Platform (Platea) and celebrated last 03/12 in Madrid. In his oral presentation entitled Thin Film in Photovoltaic. Metallic substrates, José María showed the opportunity and challenges for the steel to be used as thin film solar cells direct substrates and gave an overview of the solutions proposed by the STEELPV project.
