STEELPV project proposes to functionalize low cost industrial steel as direct substrates for photovoltaic devices. Different steel substrates will be used (stainless steel different from solar grade stainless steel, galvanized/aluminized cold rolled low carbon steel and bare cold rolled low carbon steel) taking into account industrial implementation feasibility of the steel/PV systems. Steels compatibility with the thin film PV deposition processes selected, based on silicon, chalcopyrite and organic technologies, will be carried out through the development of intermediate layers using non-vacuum and vacuum strategies.

  • STEELPV Workshop _ E-MRS2017 fall meeting

    The STEELPV worshop was organised as satellite event of the E-MRS2017 fall meeting in Warsaw. The workshop proposed a review of the main results achieved during the first three years of the project in terms of: 1) low cost steel substrates selected for thin film solar cells, 2) Functionalization of the different steels, 3) Direct deposition of thin film solar cells, 4) Up-scaling feasability and 5) Economic viability.
